Automatic Bending Machine


In traditional small-scale SMT bending workshops, manual operations may cause low efficiency and security issues. Due to the uncontrollability of manual operations, it is difficult to guarantee the quality and output of finished products. Labor management and quality control become a priority for customers. In this context, realizing automatic operation is particularly important. The automatic bending machine replaces manual loading and unloading with two servo grippers and automatically presses the metal parts into other shapes, making the entire production process safer and more efficient.

According to the results of on-site inspection of customer’s workshop, NexGOL , a company that provides smart customized machines powered by NexCOBOT controllers, designs and manufactures a fully automatic bending machine. There are two grippers loading and unloading materials respectively, the four-axis servo structure makes the overall operation more flexible and accurate. This equipment perfectly solves the problems that have been plagued by customer. With twenty-five sets of equipment put into use, the number of workers has been reduced from 25 to 5.

Based on standard EtherCAT communication, ECM-211F, an EtherCAT master controller, supports all the application layers of CiA402 and interacts with the EtherCAT I/O module (NEIO-B1812), the bus servo motor (EtherCAT, MECHATROLINK-II, etc.), and the remote host computer effectively. The overall working process is displayed on the HMI in real time.

NexCOBOT’s EtherCAT master controller can not only be efficiently used in the multi-equipment control and production line upgrades, but also play a reliable role in the design and control of a single machine. The customer chose the appropriate configuration based on the functional requirements to achieve the optimal cost performance of hardware and software. While successfully completing the current project, it has laid a solid foundation for subsequent upgrades.
